About Advocate Health Care
Advocate Health Care offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) as part of its comprehensive wound care program across the Milwaukee region. With over 40 years of HBOT experience in their system, Advocate is one of the most established providers of medical-grade hyperbaric therapy in the Midwest, serving patients with complex non-healing wounds and a range of other HBOT-indicated conditions. Several Advocate locations in the Milwaukee area use multiplace hyperbaric chamber therapy, which allows multiple patients to be treated simultaneously. During the standard two-hour session, patients relax in a comfortable, air-conditioned chamber while breathing 100% pure oxygen at two to three times normal atmospheric pressure — delivering 10 to 20 times more oxygen to body tissues than breathing ambient air. This elevated oxygen level stimulates new blood vessel formation, supports immune function, and accelerates healing in compromised tissue. Indicated conditions include diabetic non-healing wounds, crush injuries, compartment syndrome, radiation tissue damage, compromised skin grafts or flaps, chronic osteomyelitis, carbon monoxide poisoning, necrotizing soft tissue infections, intracranial abscess, decompression sickness, and arterial gas embolism. Total treatment courses typically range from 20 to 30 sessions, with each patient's plan reviewed by the Medical Director prior to initiation. Health insurance may cover hyperbaric treatments depending on the specific indication. Advocate Health Care accepts most major insurance plans and can be reached at 800-3-ADVOCATE (800-323-8622) for location-specific scheduling and referral coordination.
