About Hyperbaric Chambers - Oxygen Therapy Benefits
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) involves breathing 100% oxygen in a pressurized chamber, increasing the amount of oxygen the lungs can gather. This therapy enhances the body's natural healing capabilities by delivering high concentrations of oxygen to the bloodstream, which helps to repair damaged tissues, rehabilitate injuries, and promote the healing of chronic wounds. HBOT can help with wound healing, infections, carbon monoxide poisoning and decompression sickness. During a session, the air pressure in the chamber is increased 2 to 3 times higher than normal air pressure. Patients can relax, watch TV, listen to music, or talk to a technician during the treatment, which typically lasts 60-90 minutes. HBOT is considered a safe procedure when administered by experienced healthcare providers. HBOT is used to treat various conditions, including non-healing wounds like diabetic foot ulcers, infections, tissue damage from radiation therapy, and decompression sickness. It works by increasing blood flow, decreasing inflammation, stimulating new blood vessel growth, and enhancing the body's ability to fight infections. While HBOT is FDA-approved for specific conditions, some clinics may promote it for unproven uses such as Alzheimer's disease or autism.
