About Hyperbaric Medicine
The Hyperbaric Medicine Division at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) as part of its comprehensive shock trauma services. HBOT involves breathing 100% oxygen in a pressurized chamber, increasing the amount of oxygen the blood can carry to enhance the body's natural healing processes. This therapy is used to treat a variety of conditions, including wound healing and carbon monoxide poisoning.
