About Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
The University of Michigan Health System offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) at multiple locations as part of their comprehensive wound care services. HBOT involves breathing 100% oxygen inside a pressurized chamber to accelerate healing of wounds and infections where tissues lack sufficient oxygen. The U-M Health's hyperbaric chamber is a multiplace chamber that can accommodate up to 10 patients, creating a comfortable and social environment where patients can relax in large recliner chairs, watch TV, read, and even move around during the two-hour sessions. Trained attendants are always present to monitor patients and address any needs.
